Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship
KE&G Construction, Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking highly motivated individuals to join their Heavy Equipment Operator Apprenticeship Program and Construct their Legacy in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
The KE&G Apprenticeship Program for Operators is a 3-year program consisting of 6,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT), as well as 432 hours of related instructional training (RIT). In each of the three years, apprentices will complete 2,000 hours of designated OJT, which is field work, and 144 hours of RIT in a classroom setting. Throughout this process, apprentices will be formally trained on a variety of equipment and taught the proper procedures for operating safely.
Minimum Qualifications for the Apprentice Program:
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment and possess a form of state identification (e.g. driver’s license) and social security card
- Applicants must be United States citizens or have proper Immigration and Naturalization Service papers for working in the US.
- Must be able to perform basic reading, math, writing and computer related duties, as well as an aptitude for in-class learning with some self-study at home.
- Must understand safety regulations and follow both written and oral instructions.
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency, or other high school equivalency credentials.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Undergo comprehensive training to operate various types of heavy machinery.
- Assist in the construction and maintenance of projects.
- Learn to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on heavy machinery.
- Adhere to all safety regulations.
- Develop skills to contribute to the successful completion of projects.
- Complete the required course curriculum each year.
- Demonstrate successful progress in skills, knowledge, and abilities in the program.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all staff.
- Maintain acceptable attendance and good work habits.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat.
- Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and more
- Safely operate hand and power tools.
- Follow instructions and meet set standards.
- Lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest).
- Complete pre-employment drug screening and abide by the company’s drug testing policy.
- Be dependable and punctual.
- Applications are being accepted from April 18th, 2025, to May 16th, 2025.
- Applicants must complete the Apprentice Program Application Form, either electronically or by filling out a paper application that can be found at KE&G’s headquarters.
- Applicants may receive credit for prior experience if they provide sufficient documentation of experience and/or education.
- Applicants must complete an interview.
