Director of Communications
KE&G Construction, Inc. is a General Contractor specializing in Heavy Highway/Civil and Commercial construction, with capabilities including underground utilities, site development, transportation infrastructure, mining, and more. We are seeking a Director of Communications to lead all internal and external communications for KE&G. This role will strategically manage brand positioning, public relations, media engagement, digital communications, and companywide messaging. The Director of Communications oversees communications and marketing staff, develops comprehensive communications strategies, and serves as the organization’s key spokesperson.
Responsibilities
- Promote and protect KE&G’s mission, vision, values, and brand identity across all communication channels.
- Lead the development and execution of an integrated communications and marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensure clarity, consistency, and cohesion in all messaging and brand expressions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate multichannel marketing, communications, and media strategies to enhance KE&G’s market position.
- Oversee marketing campaigns, proposals, corporate collateral, and public facing content.
- Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and evolving communication technologies.
- Serve as KE&G’s primary spokesperson and media contact.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community partners, and industry organizations.
- Manage all media inquiries, press releases, and opportunities for positive public visibility.
- Strengthen internal communication practices to support transparency, culture, and organizational alignment.
- Lead the development of companywide announcements, talking points, and executive messages.
- Support internal event planning, including ESOP culture initiatives and collaboration with internal committees.
- Oversee digital strategy, content creation, and analytics for all online and social media platforms.
- Ensure regular publication of high-quality content that highlights company achievements, culture, and initiatives.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to communications/marketing staff.
- Foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Work closely with leadership, operations, and project teams to align messaging and communication priorities.
- Strengthen KE&G’s reputation across all external channels and stakeholder groups.
- Lead crisis communication planning and guide KE&G’s response during critical events.
- Cultivate partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders and community groups.
Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities
- Senior level experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or corporate communications; experience in construction, infrastructure, media, or agency environments is preferred. - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, collaborate effectively, and navigate complex or sensitive issues.
- Proven strategic leadership, including managing teams, guiding initiatives, and working successfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong writing and editing expertise, including communication plans, proposals, executive messaging, and official statements.
- Knowledge of graphic design principles and familiarity with tools such as Adobe InDesign; ability to oversee creative development.
- Demonstrated media relations experience, including serving as a spokesperson and managing interactions with press and community partners.
- Digital communications and social media proficiency, with an understanding of content strategy, analytics, and multiplatform engagement.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and navigate active construction sites.
- Work both in office and field environments; outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, machinery, noise, uneven terrain, and site-related conditions.
- Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
